Saskatoon is tucked away at the back of the property, just steps from Salmon Creek (which joins the Okanogan River two blocks away). Two small bedrooms, with antique beds, flank the main living area. Kitchen and bathroom (shower only) are tiny but serviceable. Mod leather couch folds down to sleep two, wifi, BluRay DVD, and HD Smart TV (local channels and Netflix) will make any traveling couch potatoes very happy. Kitchen is microscopic but has all the right stuff except for counterspace. Living room/diner is very mid-century modern, even down to the vintage magazines from that era. (Seriously, those Popular Science issues from the 50s are real eye openers -- it's fascinating to see how close or how far we've come from what were just gleams in some inventors' eyes back then.) Dining area has everything you need for cocktail hour (except the alcohol). Interesting mix of books on hand, including my stash of live-off-the-land (practical farmer to paranoid prepper) books, and some old manly detective mysteries. See lots more photos, availability, guest guidelines, and rates on Airbnb.com.
Cotton sheets and pretty patchwork quilts hide a comfy 12-inch memory foam mattress on an antique shabby chic bedframe. The room may be small (note that the bed is right up against the wall), but it boasts the biggest closet of all the cottages). Dresser is classic 50s, I would have killed for it as a child back then. Ruffled curtains. Chintz-induced serenity.
Patchwork quilts top off cotton sheets (sometimes flannel in winter) and a killer 12-inch memory foam mattress on an antique metal bedframe. (Note that the bed is snug to the wall -- this is one tiny bedroom, and basketaball players will need to duck.) Lots of nature art, and a bookcase full of books (and rocks) spruce up this space. Find out if the dreamcatcher really works.
Love, love, love the faux bamboo credenza in that spiffy green. Mix martinis in the tres atomic cocktail shakers. And check out that salt and pepper shaker on the table, how Danish modern is that? This dining area is a great place to eat, play cards or games, or putter with a jigsaw puzzle (look in the drawers of the brown credenza). And remember TV tables? They're here! Just waiting for your Swansons entrees and Hungry Man frozen dinners.
It's small. Really small. The counter space will fit under a napkin. But it has all the right stuff -- big fridge, neat vintage stove (my son tells me stuff from the 70s is now vintage, sigh, who feels old, show of hands), microwave, espresso/coffee makers, other appliances, and a couple of classic EasyBake ovens (I think there are even the now rare 100-Watt light bulbs in them).
Gery is a great host! Quick to answer, had wonderful recommendations for activities and even offered two of her personal canoes for us to use. Our getaway was very peaceful, pleasant and we will definitely be returning 😊 -- Dawn, October 2019
The cottage has everything you need for a stay. Extra toiletries are there if you forgot to bring them. The beds and linens are very clean and comfy. The kitchen is a but small but it give you the warm feeling of at home. The host is very friendly. I will definitely recommend this for a quiet and rustic stay. --Chunon, August 2019
This small cabin was perfect for our stay in the area. The interior is very tastefully designed and the amenities have been thoughtfully selected. We appreciated the retro design with the modern comforts. --Gerd-Inger, August 2019
Adorable little cottage with everything you could need for a short or even a longer stay! Very clean!! Would absolutely stay again!!! --Stacy, August 2019
We stayed in cabin 5 and it was adorable. Geralyne literally anticipated every need and question we might have. For example, you don't need to wonder if there is a coffee maker or grinder or vegetable peeler. Both the kitchen and the bathroom were well-stocked. Okanogan isn't exactly a tourist town but Geralyne had recommended the farm-fresh stand (open M-F right downtown) as well as Omak Lake. Both were real treats. My husband and I and our two dogs literally had a whole beach to ourselves at Omak and enjoyed it thoroughly. --Petra, August 2019
Geralyne was a great host. She heard us asking about BBQing and pulled out for us her very clean BBQer and set it in the front yard of the cottage. There were extra toiletries in case we forgot to bring anything, the bedrooms were well air-conditioned and the beds and sheets very comfortable, and the kitchen was well-stocked with nice equiment for cooking. It was so fun staying in this historic little place, and I loved the funky little covered porch for drinking coffee in the morning. --Julia, July 2019
Fun and unique cottages. Great location for exploring the area and Geralyne is quite knowledgeable of the area. --Terri, June 2019
This was a very comfortable place to stay. Everything you need to make this homey is provided. I also appreciated the fact that the cabin I stayed in was pet friendly. --Gayle, June 2019
Great place, great value and thoroughly charming. Highly recommend. --Robert, April 2019
Geralyne's place was perfect for our group of three. Lovely touches everywhere, comfy beds, everything we needed. Lovely host and helpful hubby. A-plus! --Matt & Linda, March 2019
Great, cozy little retreat. It's walking distance to stores, restaurants, and the river. The cottage is cute and comfy. Lots of cooking utensils, reading materials, and entertainment options. --Leslie, March 2019
Cute, cozy spot with loads of character. Geralyne and the caretaker, Jeff, were timely and extremely gracious hosts. Would absolutely stay there again. --Melinda, January 2019
Geralyne is an amazing host! I had a extended-stay in her cottage for work. We were the first Airbnb renters to stay in this particular cottage and she went out of her way to get it ready in time for me to move in & start working! She also went out of her way to make sure me, my son, and my little dog Riley had everything we needed to be comfortable! --Brandi, November2018
