If you're into the great outdoors, if you get giddy when you hear hook, line, and sinker, and/or if you played cowboys and indians as a kid, this is the den for you. Pine Cone is small, but it checks all the boxes -- comfy leather sofa, HD smart TV, BluRay DVD, wifi, books, vintage magazines. Prints by some of America's best wildlife artists (Glazier, Brenders, Bama, Terpning). Funny signs add a bit of comic relief. Beer glasses in the freezer. AC in the summer. A classy mini-mancave. See lots more photos, availability, guest guidelines, and rates on Airbnb.com.
Cotton sheets (very often flannel in winter) and Eddie Bauer quilts cover a 12-inch memory foam mattress. Sounds pretty good, eh? Sleep surrounded by wild canines. And that gorgeous print by Carl Brenders over the bed? It's a painting, not a photo. Pinky swear. Look really close, after you arrive.
Big fridge for cold drinks, big oven for hot pizzas. Coffee maker and espresso machine, blender, microwave, crockpot -- the equipment is here if you can resist the temptation to eat out at The Club. (Try the Gridiron steak or the Friday night prime rib; my fave burger is the Bulldog with chipotle mayo, and the Irish nachos are killer.)
Every cottage has lots of treasures I've amassed over the years. In Cottonwood I show off my egg beater collection, in Nootka Rose it's teacups (the overflow from Seattle), Tamarack taps into my penchant for Mounties (Royal Canadian Mounted Police), and here in Pine Cone, it's those lovely aromatic wood souvenir boxes that were all the rage when I was a kid (not that I ever got to go anywhere that sold them). And each box hides part of my fishing lure collection, one based on no knowledge whatsoever -- I just pick up the pretty ones.
Sofa, rocking chair, or propped up on pillows in bed, you pick the place, you pick the book. Binge on Louis L'Amour westerns (mostly the Sackett Brothers), or older Zane Grey novels (some now politically incorrect), or vintage cowboy classics. If you're more into non-fiction, there are some fascinating regional history books (indigenous tribes and incoming settlers), and plenty of fishing and outdoor how-to books. Make sure you watch the DVD Gunless, a delightful western flick filmed just across the border in Canada, a must-see.
We enjoyed our stay so very much in the Pine Cone cabin. It is obvious the owner has put so much thought, care, and consideration into the touches of this cottage. The housekeeping is exceptional and the place is immaculate. Although the space is quite small, it is well arranged, has just about every amenity you could need, offers an incredibly comfortable bed, very interesting artifacts around the space, and comes with the most top-notch hospitality you can imagine (although she’s not always on-site)! We were fortunate enough to meet Geralyne, and were very blessed by her kindness and generosity. The location of these cottages is ideal as well. It’s right there smack dab in the center of the regions of Winthrop, Chelan, and even the border of Canada! Plus Okanogan and Omak are pretty darn interesting themselves! The outdoor opportunities are pretty unless along the Columbia River and in the nearby mountains. We just had an absolute blast during our stay here. Looking forward to going back to that cozy little cabin in the middle of winter just to get away… --Tracy Horn, October 2019
A very charming and comfortable cottage, with an eclectic personality (and lots of humorous beer signs). Geralyne is the consummate host. You won’t be disappointed. --Susan, October 2019
What a find! Stopped here a few nights while doing some hiking in the area. The cabin exceeded my expectations—Geralyne has thought of everything. The bed was super comfortable and I wasn’t bothered by the sporadic traffic noises from the main road. The location is great, especially if you’re looking to get out of the tourist busyness of the Winthrop/Twisp area and/or want the option of heading north toward Oroville. Would definitely stay here again. --Carissa Bluestone, October 2019
We loved staying in the Pine Cone! The furnishings and decorations were delightful; the location is perfect; and tips about what to do in the area made for an easy and memorable trip. --John & Betsy, September 2019
If you’re headed to Okanogan, Geralyne’s place is the place to be. We loved it from the moment we crossed the threshold. Geralyne met us in parking area and was such a delight. She’s really thought of everything you could need. I slept SO good in the bed and the kitchen has everything you need. We will be back and we will always check availability for the Pine Cone Cottage. --Tiffany, August 2019
We loved it. Clean and stylish. Very at home feeling, would go again. My wife has more to add... Geralyne’s place surpassed all expectations. It is clear she has a keen eye for aesthetic excellence and home décor. I was amazed at the beauty of each of her cottages - each with its own unique theme. We thoroughly enjoyed the exquisite artwork and plethora of perfectly themed books! The cottage was so well- equipped... wouldn’t change a thing about it! --Vim, August 2019
This small cabin was perfect for our stay in the area. The interior is very tastefully designed and the amenities have been thoughtfully selected. We appreciated the retro design with the modern comforts. --Gerd-Inger, August 2019
We loved our stay at cottage #2 and so appreciated the decor! Amazing and fun. Geralyne has obviously put a lot of time and energy into her cottages. All the information about the surrounding area was great and really useful. Would definitely stay again if we are back in Okanogan! --Nancy, August 2019
You will love the gorgeous little town of Okanogan. It really does have everything a road tripper needs to enjoy smalltown America. Many of the businesses are closed, which is sad, but it sort of adds to the almost "ghost town" quietness of the place. If you're into rodeos, they have one yearly only 4 miles away. If you're into lakes, they have that too, and a lovely river walk right across the street practically. Geralyne's has all the things you'd need for a very comfortable weekend stay. Don't bring dishes, towels, pillows, or coffee makers, she has all that stuff already. Great weekend in Okanogan. --Stacy, August 2019
The cottage was super cute! We loved the décor and the bed was very comfy! It's clear that Geralyne really cares about her guests and she provided some really great suggestions for places to check out in the area. :) --Stefani, August 2019
We've stayed in many Airbnb's, by far this is our favorite. Geralyne has thought of everything! Magazines from the 1940's, any book you could ever want to read, appliances I don't even have at home, absolutely sparkling clean. She gave us great suggestions for dinner and breakfast, which were spot on. She has put a lot of time, energy and money into making her places quaint, and they certainly are. I hope other visitors respect the furnishings as they do their own. Will definitely be back! --Jean, July 2019
The little house is a great, unique place to stay. It is very clean and tidy and has a number of interesting period details. --Gary, July 2019
Great place to rest while exploring the area. Omak Lake was peaceful and quiet until afternoon on Saturday... great place to paddle and enjoy a quick swim. --Joe, July 2019
I simply cannot give a stronger recommendation to stay at Pine Cone Cottage. The space is small but excellently outfitted with every possible amenity. The location is perfect (just south of downtown) and within walking distance to groceries, pubs and the sights. The owner is unbelievably friendly and accommodating. To top it off - she loaned us kayaks to use on the lake! Your decision NOT to stay here is the worst one you’ll make in your trip. This place is excellent! --Matthew, June 2019
We booked our stay last minute, and we were so pleasantly surprised at how cozy these little cottages are! Everything we could possibly need for a comfortable stay was available. Communication was quick and easy. Geralyne sent us a bunch of helpful info about the area and places to check out before we arrived. Check in and check out were easy. We definitely hope to stay here again! --Jennie, June 2019

Cozy apartment with easy access to town. Loved the little details and thought put into the decor. Host was super responsive. --Chastity, March 2019
My hubby could not get over the pictures, books and décor. Said he wished he had that place in the mountains as a hunting cabin. Thank you for allowing us to stay, we were warm and cozy. Thanks for telling us about the Livestock Café, it lived up to your recommendation! Great location, cute town. --Debi, October 2018
Pine Cone Cottage is very well equipped and amazingly decorated, with many interesting or helpful little touches. The AC worked really well on a 90 degree+ day. The bed is super comfortable. All information we were provide ahead of time was accurate. This was our second visit and we will be back. -- Joan, July 2018
Better than description. There are so many nice, thoughtful touches that we stayed at the cottage more than expected. During Summer, the air conditioner is absolutely fantastic. --Mark, July 2018
We had a wonderful stay. The decorations are terrific and there are so many thoughtful touches. I forgot my toothbrush but a new one was provided along with any other toiletries you could need. The bed is comfortable and we slept well. The cottage was shockingly clean. Every detail has been thought out to ensure a pleasant stay. --Logan, May 2018
Cozy little cabins charmingly restored - right in the heart of Okanogan - easy access to western clothing, fishing gear, good ol' grub, quiet drives in wide open country, vistas right out of a Cowboy movie - great getaway - great hosts!!! --Patti, October 2017
A little bit of the old West: Pine Cone Cottage in Okanogan, Washington is a treat! The very small space functions beautifully for one or two people. There are many thoughtful touches throughout the space and LOTS of antiques and collectables from the American West adding rustic charm to the cottage. We enjoyed walking around the town and were lucky enough to be able to go inside the Methodist church, built in the late 1800’s entirely from river rock hauled up to the building site by hand! --Robert, October 2017
These quaint cottages with the time period appropriate decor are amazing. The owners have dedicated much time, thought and effort into preserving and making comfortable accommodations. The owners are friendly and very helpful with the accommodations and share a wealth of knowledge about the areas. A great place to relax and enjoy the many natural attractions and activities in the area. --Diane, October 2017
We snapped up this cute little place after we decided to attend the Omak Stampede & Powwow at the last minute. Geralyne was excellent to communicate with and told us about all the great places to check out (eat at The Breadline!). The place itself was cozy with a great atmosphere/decor and had all the amenities you need for a weekend getaway. The air conditioning saved us from the intense heat and the bed was super comfortable. Would definitely stay again! -- Trevor, August 2017
