It's all about afternoon tea at Nootka Rose. Dozens of tea cups waiting for you to sip a little Lady Grey. Charming and comfy, this cottage is the perfect place to relax after serious sightseeing. Or pamper yourself by taking it easy all day with an armful of cozy mysteries -- including the complete collection of Laura Childs' Teashop Mysteries, now there's a binge! (Book a week and get cracking.) Enjoy air conditioning in the summer, faux firelight in the winter, wifi, BluRay DVDs, HD smart TV (local channels and Netflix), and a sleek new bathroom ensuite. When you need to get away from everyone, or everyone except one special one, this is where to come. See lots more photos, availability, guest guidelines, and rates on Airbnb.com.
Cotton sheets and patchwork quilts feel so good, and the 12-inch memory foam mattress pretty much eliminates any sheep counting. The iron bedstead is the real deal from the 1800s. A lovely selection of books to peruse, and you might just fit the very modern Cinderella shoes atop the vintage makeup case.
Vintage is fun, but when it comes to coffee and cocktails, you need stuff that plugs in. Ice is nice. Lovely old transferware dishes to snack on (only the modern cream and Blue Willow can go in the dishwasher tho). Cute vintage stove with lightup knob. The funny signs are all dear to my heart, I still laugh every time i read the yellow one.
This was a complete reno from the joists up. So, unlike the rest of the cottage, this one is all sleek and new, with tile and glass -- lots of glass, some of it real cut crystal to catch the afternoon sunlight. Note, the fixtures are modern, but this is still a little 1937 blue-collar cottage, so during cold snaps in the winter, you need to dribble the taps to keep the pipes from freezing in the unheated crawl space, just like when you were a kid, or when your grandparents were kids. (There was originally only one outlet and one ceiling light in each room, and mostly no light switches, you had to use pull chains. Things have improved.)
A Victorian wicker library table, Art Nouveau pressback chairs, antique floor lamps, fine wood cabinets housing dozens of English bone china teacups, the quintessential shabby chic scrolly metal bedframe, a spectacular tole chandelier shipped from France (plus two other chandeliers, and an amazing ceiling light in the kitchen), and not one, but, two, rococco guilt-framed mirrors -- there are some lovely pieces in this cottage. Electric fireplace, fiddly little tables. Everything you need for a tea party, including the wheeled tea cart. I will share my precious scones recipe for a proper cream tea.
I had an opportunity to spend a few days in Nootka Rose cottage and one night in Pine Cone Cottage this fall while visiting my sister. Wow! I spent the first hour just admiring all the thoughtful details and taking pictures in both to send back home. You will want for nothing in these cottages. They had the comfiest mattresses I have ever slept on in a cottage rental, with that rare beast: real cotton sheets. If you must, there's TV, Netflix, and wifi available, but since there's such an amazing selection of reading material (all themed to the cottage), this is the perfect place to go tech free. There are two entire cabinets full of teacups in Nootka (a girl's wet dream) that I was actually hesitant to use, but it just didn't seem right not to once I'd gotten settled in for the evening. Gery provides a comprehensive list of all the local attractions and eateries, but if you're into cooking for yourself, the local market is only steps away. Nootka Rose is the perfect 'girl's weekend' cottage. Guys, you'll be more attracted to Pine Cone, the ultimate man cave. Both are hidden gems that aren't going to stay hidden for long! So worth the trip. I will be back.

Sweet cozy cottage with everything you could need. I love staying in old downtowns. Wonderful host!

A quiet, cozy, French style inspired interior and a great host. A nice surprise was to see quail so close coming to a feeder. My wife and I were looking for a place to receive the new year, and we found it. We would definitely go back.

This is a beautiful place, a lovely spot I called home for almost 5 months. As travel nurse, I stay in many Airbnbs -- this is the most comfortable yet. A home away from home. Enjoy your stay here. It is a place filled with warmth and love.

This is the second time we have stayed in one of Geralyne's cottages and the space was just what we expected. We love the location, the amenities and the many things she has done to make her cottages very comfortable - especially the beds and bedding. Geralyne has set up her cottages to provide everything one could need at a home away from home. She is also a very clear and friendly communicator. We plan to stay at one of her places many more times in the future.

The cottages are so well done and have an awesome period decor. The hosts were amazing and great with tips for sightseeing and hospitality. Would whole heartedly recommend this place for a day or months!

We loved this cute cottage! My husband was impressed with all of the tea cups--and the comfortable bed. You'll be set if you decide to cook. The kitchen is stocked with just about any kitchen tool you might want or need. Slip over to the Breadline Café in Omak for a delicious breakfast.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Nootka Rose. The location is great for visitors to Omak, Okanogan and those looking to get away from more touristy areas. The cottages are charming and clean - full of unique antiques. Lots of attention to detail, all the way down to the french press and espresso machine. Geralyne was a fantastic host, responsive and full of great advice for visitors to the area. We will certainly return when we visit our friends in the area!
